Creative Vancouver

Exciting creative community enterprise

Il Centro, the Italian Cultural Centre, has been an essential part of Vancouver’s cultural landscape for more than three decades. It opened in 1977 when its founding members, 13 existing Italian Associations, came together “to promote Italian culture, values and heritage and to share these with other communities.”

Il Centro is one of the most cherished event venues in Vancouver and a destination for those who appreciate authentic, cultural activities.

Through our love of art, food, wine, design, film, music and literature, we proudly share our culture with our community, and welcome all who wish to be part of our vibrant destination in Vancouver.

About Us

Our mission is to promote Italian culture, heritage and values, and share these with other communities.

June is Italian Heritage month

The Italian Cultural Centre has a long tradition of welcoming newcomers from Italy and offers its services and assistance to all Italian visitors to Vancouver. While Il Centro cannot provide unlimited services, we have established a network of partnerships and collaborations designed to provide quality orientation and information for our newcomer community. Through a series of referrals and information sessions, Il Centro has positioned itself as the “hub” for the Italian community and is committed to work with our partners to meet the needs of our new Italian compatriots.

The Visible City
The Visible City goes beyond the walls of a traditional museum, enabling you to experience street-level history using augmented reality. Discover the rise, fall, and revival of neon on two interactive walking tours of the city’s most colourful neighbourhoods.

The Museum of Vancouver is the first museum in North America to have such an app, and we invite you to join us for its launch at the lively Vancouver Fanclub on Granville Street! Come for a drink, meet featured storytellers from the virtual exhibition, download the app, share your own neon story, and then take a jaunt down the street to test out the tour.
