Exploring the creative experience
What we can do
Contribute to moving from an economy of consumption to an experience economy as we increase our understanding of the contribution of the creative experience to the quality of our experience of life, to our appreciation for our experience of life, and to our ability to contribute to creating possibilities for ourselves as individuals and as creative communities.
Create a community to explore ideas and opportunities to create arts experience projects which contribute to increasing our understanding and appreciation of our creative expression, our creative experience, and our ability to create and excite our interest in creating with our experience, in creating our experience, and in creating possibilities for our creative and cultural evolution.
Create a communication centre for media that contributes opportunities and ideas to experience the arts and our creative expression as artists and to excite our own creative response, creative expression, creative experience, and creative contribution.
On June 12, 2007, 40,000 feet of space owned by the City of Vancouver in Gastown became available when Storyeum closed their doors. As the chair of what was then called the Downtown Vancouver Association Arts and Culture Forum I co-hosted an event with the Alliance for Arts and Culture, the Community Arts Council of Vancouver, Tourism Vancouver, and Simon Fraser Unversity to explore the idea of creating an arts experience centre to give our community and visitors the opportunity to explore the experience of the arts and have the opportunity to explore the creative process, the creative expression, the creative contribution, and the creative experience with artists, musicians, dancers, actors, writers, creators, and other creative contributors in our community to excite interest in the arts experiences being created throughout our community with information about the opportunities available. On August 20, 2007 I registered www.vancouverartsexperience.com to reserve the name for the Centre and to create information centre to inform visitors and create connections between their experience at the Centre to other opportunities to experience the arts around the Vancouver region.
On December 11, 2007, I registered www.artsexperienceproject.com, moving from the idea of creating a Centre to give people a back stage and inside look at the arts of creating to the idea of having creating and connecting projects and opportunities to experience the arts, and the creative process, and the creative experience and calling it the Arts Experience Project to leave the imagination open for ideas about how to create opportunities for people to connect with and get inside the creative experience.
I pursued the idea of creating an online broadcast of a series of workshops coming from different creative venues in the Downtown Eastside with Marilyn Foubert to demonstrate how the arts experience project could work and create opportunities for artists to create connections and for people to connect with opportunities to explore the creative experience as if they were in the class, and to showcase the creative places Vancouver has to explore and experience.
We can not understand and appreciate the arts without experiencing the creative process, creative expression, and creative contribution of the arts to our appreciation of our experience of life and our ability to imagine and create possibilities for our creative journey as individuals, as cultures, and as a community.
Creating opportunities to experience the arts, increase our understanding and appreciation of the creative experience, and explore the contribution of the arts to our our creative expression, our creative enterprise, and our creative journey.
Create a place where artists and creative contributors can connect and collaborate with one another around creating experiences, creating our experience economy, and creating possibilities for our creative and cultural evolution.
Imagining the Possibilities
Create an Arts Experience Centre to excite interest in the opportunities to experience the arts and create a place where our community, visitors to our community, and the community of common interest we can connect and create on the internet can explore the contributions of of the arts to our understanding and appreciation of life, and to Vancouver artists and create connections with to

Excite others to create arts experience centres and arts experience projects in their communities to create opportunities to explore the arts, culture, and creative experiences of their communities for their community and for other communities to explore for creative experiences and ideas that could contribute to their imagination, their creative expression, and their creative enterprise.
